Ah. This I am … keeping my mouth closed until this series is over, after which I will rewatch all the episodes, and come to a conclusion.
As it stands; some previous things can be explained, some can’t. Overall… they need more time than they’ve got to properly explore this plot line.
Hm, this is a good question to pose, Baby Bat, and I will do my best to answer for you. From what I can understand, this was peculiar to Erin herself, because so was so against the idea of being turned. She would undoubtedly hate Vlad for doing it, because she had no want to be a vampire.
Ingrid Dracula, because she is the Queen of Darkness.
I really sorry everyone but my usually source for YD hasn’t uploaded the new episode yet and I can’t find it on any of my back up source either. Looks like we’ll have to wait a little long for the new episode.
Just to explain why,my dear YDCAS. BBC iplayer has been playing up tonight, and the content only became available a short while ago. So it’ll take a little longer for anyone to get it up and going.
Young Dracula Series 5 Episode 6 The Enemy Within Sneak Peek
Best episode yet! Woop Maliks back!! Shame Erins dead but it’s originally what she wanted so at least she’s happy now. ( Malik looks even better with facial hair!), anyway… Those shadow warriors were impressive, I’m so glad they’ve introduced demons into the show, the special effects were great, I think I’m going to have to take up rounders now =). Whats got me excited is that an episode like this is usually found near the end if the series, and we’re only 5 episodes in so the series should be epic!! Shame Sally and George are planning on leaving but Malik and whatshisname are a good addition although I’m not too sure I can trust them.
Can’t wait till next week!!!
Alright, ship what you want to ship but I’ve got to get some stuff off my chest. Hear me out, here, please.
I am not saying that Ingrid/Piers can’t be a cute and wonderful ship in the future, and I’m not saying that Vlad and Erin were never a lovely couple. But there are a few things about both of those ships that I’m finding problematic and which many of you think are really romantic. So much as I really don’t want to blow holes in your ships (as I say, they’re fine to ship) I would like to offer an alternative perspective. (I’d put it under a cut for length, but I feel it’s important people see it and many won’t if it’s under a cut.)
First of all, Piers and Ingrid. Many of you are shipping this like FedEx, and that’s fine. What I do have concerns about is how many of you found their interactions in the first episode cute. Piers hits on Ingrid through a strange combination of bribery and irritation, and quickly provides himself with blackmail material (yes, that last one was to save his own skin but there’s really no telling what else he could use it for and Ingrid’s smart enough to know that he could release it any time he likes if she upsets him). Despite her lack of interest, he badgers her until the only way to get what she wants - peace, quiet, and help with her computer - is to agree to a date.
Coercion is not romantic. Refusing to accept that someone isn’t interested in you is not romantic. If someone tries this on you, fanglings, run a mile.
Then we come to Vlad and Erin. Much as I have my own preferred ships for these two, I can accept that they were a lovely couple. Until their last episode. It’s been a while, so allow me to recap: Vlad wants to do something that will directly affect Erin and involve her body. He asks Erin whether he can or not. She says no. He does it anyway, because he can’t resist. Now, we’re talking about turning her into a vampire here but this applies to anything involving someone else’s bodily autonomy.
Vlad being unable to bear to let Erin die despite her explicit wishes is understandable, yes, but it’s also not his decision to make. His actions in this scene are extremely selfish and it’s no wonder Erin hates him afterwards. He’s completely disregarded her right to choose what she does with her body (to not become undead, for example) and focused instead on what he wants.
Ignoring someone saying ‘no’ is not romantic. Changing or interfering with someone else’s body without their express consent is not romantic. It is selfish and in many, if not all cases, completely illegal.
I’m not telling you you can’t like the guys in these examples, and I’m not saying you can’t ship these things as much as you like. But I did want to remind you that what seems to get by unremarked on children’s shows about vampires doesn’t fly in real life. Look after yourselves, fanglings, and don’t forget these things aren’t healthy features of relationships. Don’t tolerate it in the real world.
The Batty Mod is extremely thankful that the fangdom is made up of such smart people. Honestly. it does my heart good to see people noting problematic elements, and discussing them openly. This was something that, when I saw it in show, I worried. Some of you my remember me calling Vlad a selfish little … well, yes.
I won’t ramble on, and detract from the important post that is reblogged, but I urge you my Baby Bats, notice this stuff, and question it.
Vampirism is, after all, being used as a metaphor (of sorts) to convey things that are real and true in our world. Be brilliant, Baby Bats, and be aware.
How could you try and get your dad caught by the Vampire High Council.
Doesn’t matter though, you’re still my favourite character and your dad is still a horrible person for not realising how great you can be.
But seriously, lose the fluffy pink cardigan thing. It’s too fluffy for the Princess of Darkness.
Unintentional. Purely done to your Batty Mod not thinking clearly. When she has a free moment, she will go back and edit the posts
oh how i have missed young dracula. I don’t want to wait a week for episode 4 of the new season. WHY did it episode 3 have to end on such a cliff hanger? I just hope everything goes alright with Vlad and Sally.
i am so fucking tired of ingrid being treated like shit because she’s a woman, her own family are misogynists and even though she’s probably one of the most intelligent people and she gets no recognition
Just watched series 5 ep 3. The feels. This is what I’m talking about.
I spend the whole episode drooling over Gerran and wanting to hug Vlad.
Kill me now.
